This course aims to answer the following questions: Can we end world poverty by 2030? How can we ensure our cities are safe? How can we tackle the effects of climate change on our world? How has the movement of people, resources, capital, and ideas shaped the global challenges of today's world? Why is wealth unequally distributed throughout the world? What role did the colonial empires play in this?   Students will investigate and interpret the past with Warwick's History Department, focusing on Early Modern (1500-1750) and/or Modern (1750-) history. Meanwhile, students will apply the skills and content of their historical analysis to the present-day challenges of climate change, social justice, and food security. Students will consider these and other current problems of sustainability from many different perspectives, understand their complexity and learn to use a variety of approaches to think creatively about potential solutions.
