If you are looking for a summer experience to inspire and enlighten you, our Warwick Summer School is for you. You will experience a great mix of academic and personal development sessions as well as social and cultural activities. The Common Law Contracts, Arbitration and Advocacy course aims to introduce you to general principles of English common law, general principles in contract law, and three key distinct stages of contract - formation, interpretation, and remedies for its breach. You will also get an introduction to general principles of (international) arbitration, broad features of the legal framework of arbitration in England & Wales, and the key stages in the arbitration process. Finally you will gain an overview of different styles of legal drafting, general approaches to effective legal writing in common law, and general principles of oral advocacy. You will have 60 hours teaching contact time during the 3 weeks and if you choose to take the optional examination you can typically get 3-4 credits (US) 7.5 ECTS points (EU) - please check with your home institution.
