Our MSc in Robotics programme will provide extensive training in robot programming and major projects involving autonomous vehicles, underwater robots, humanoid and social robots, advanced manipulators, and novel designs.

This degree is aimed at graduates who wish to further their knowledge and information to work in industry and wider society in areas where robots can be used to improve productivity, transform transportation, work in extreme environments, and improve quality of life.

Heriot-Watt hosts the National Robotarium, the multimillion-pound innovation hub for robotics and autonomous systems built in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh and delivers leading research and support for business creation and growth.

Reasons to study:

  • Industry-relevant curriculum: Courses equip students with various robotics expertise including kinematics, robot control, navigation, planning, machine vision, and human-robot interaction, alongside enabling technologies such as AI, NLP, ML, and IoT.
  • Expert faculty: Learn from research-active robotics electrical and electronic engineers, and academics.
  • Leaders in research: Heriot-Watt researches as a part of the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) Centre for Doctoral Training in Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CDT-RAS), a centre leading in the UK effort to realise the potential of Robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
  • Supported learning: Taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, and laboratory practicals and be assessed by coursework, exams, and your dissertation while receiving support and feedback throughout the programme. Access to specialist equipment, software and laboratories used by professional electrical, electronic, and robotic engineers.
  • Professional accreditation: Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer.**

**Candidates must hold a CEng accredited BEng/BSc (Hons) undergraduate first degree to fully meet the CEng registration educational requirements.
