Our BSc Mathematics with Spanish programme combines a rigorous education in mathematical theory and practice, developing expertise across pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and computational mathematics with the opportunity to master a modern language taught by discipline experts. Students also have the opportunity (at level 3) to study mathematics at our Spanish partner institution, the University in Granada. On this programme you will learn mathematics while also becoming fluent in a European language and absorbing the Spanish culture on the year abroad. A degree in Mathematics with a European Language is a highly marketable qualification and can open the door to a wide range of global opportunities.

We have carefully designed a curriculum that teaches a comprehensive programme in modern mathematics. Our programmes also includes courses that emphasize practical and transferable skills, IT expertise, and career readiness. Activities include, giving presentations, producing independent research reports, working in groups to solve problems, and developing your CV and interview skills.   • Highers ABBBB (over two sittings). Must include Maths achieved at A and Spanish at B.
  • A-Levels BBB. Must include Maths and Spanish achieved at B.
  • International Baccalaureate 28 points. Must include Maths and Spanish achieved at Higher Level 5.
  • BTEC Extended Diploma DDM. Must be in a relevant subject and contain sufficient Maths.
  • HNC B in graded unit. Must be in a relevant subject and contain sufficient Maths at SCQF Level 6.
  • HND BB in graded units. Must be in a relevant subject and contain sufficient Maths at SCQF Level 6.
  • Please check that you meet our University-wide National 5/GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths requirements.


  • All BTEC / HNC / HND applicants will also need to achieve Spanish subject requirements with additional qualifications, please refer to Highers / A-levels / International Baccalaureate for guidance on required grades. This applies to both our Standard and Minimum entry requirements.
