The research fields within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at the National Taiwan University are divided into five divisions: metals, processing and energy ceramics, polymeric and soft materials, electronic materials. Our teaching and research programs are dedicated to investigating and improving the mechanical, electronic, optical and magnetic properties of materials. Advanced manufacturing of traditional and nano-structured metals, novel synthesis methods of biomaterials, and modeling of materials behaviors are also included in our research directions, and recruitment of new faculties is also currently in progress.
