Department of Philosophy

The NTU Department of Philosophy was established in 1928, renowned as the pioneer among the field in Taiwan. Our multiethnic (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Germany, Belgium) faculty members are expertise in diverse disciplines, including Eastern Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, and Anglo-American Philosophy. Students, therefore, are being offered comprehensive philosophical training thus able to develop international horizons. In order to further strengthen our diversity, we are converging our department into a regional hub of East-West comparative philosophy. We will continue to strive to elucidate the practical values of East-West philosophical traditions to deal with various contemporary issues. Our department will also equip students with humanistic concerns and analytical abilities to overcome different challenges throughout their lives.
