This degree offers language and education studies that fully prepare students to teach Spanish in elementary, middle, or high school. Combining the Language and Literature department's rigorous training for Spanish fluency with hands-on teacher preparation through the ACU Department of Teacher Education, this program equips students to be exceptional Spanish-speakers and teachers. Graduates are prepared to take the TeXeS state teacher certification exams for EC-12 Spanish. Students may choose to complete their student teaching in Montevideo, Uruguay, as a Study Abroad experience. ACU graduates have consistently passed the required state exams for content and language proficiency at rates in the 90th percentile. Career Opportunities A Language and Literature degree can open doors to a variety of career paths, including these: Graduate or Professional School Language and Literature is good preparation for students to continue their studies in law school, Library Science, graduate work in English or Foreign Languages and education, business management, public administration, ministry or government. Education Language and Literature prepares teachers to teach middle school and high school. Graduates sometimes specialize in English as a Second Language and teach overseas. Publishing or Writing Language and Literature majors go on to work as freelance writers, technical writers, editors, and publishers for magazines, publishing companies, web-based publishing, in large and small companies.
