Environmental Engineering

Environmental Engineering is emerging as a new engineering discipline where natural resources such as air, water and soil have to be used in the best possible way due to global warming that concerns our Earth. Today, environmental engineering is the only engineering discipline that has the strategy of estimating and preventing pollution without pollution.Environmental Engineering is a multidisciplinary engineering discipline that researches and contributes to the development of technologies that will serve sustainable development in order to protect the resources of nature that are becoming depleted, to be used efficiently, and to protect nature from human influences and human health from the effects of the polluted environment.It is very important for Environmental Engineers to be involved in production in order to determine the dimensions of the pollution, to prevent the aesthetic and economic losses caused by pollution, to ensure the environmental conditions suitable for human health, to control and eliminate the sources of pollution causing factors.

Being aware of the requirements of the profession within the Bartın University Faculty of Engineering, the Department of Environmental Engineering started in 2009-2010 with 37 students in education and training.In this context, the Department of Environmental Engineering continuously improves itself and improves its infrastructure and teaching staff to implement our country to contribute to the increase of adult human power.

The aim of our department; to educate environmental engineers who have practical and theoretical knowledge and skills such as identifying and solving environmental problems, closely following scientific and technological developments, being brave enough to realize their dreams, and being harmonious in interdisciplinary studies in the direction of scientific and ethical rules.

Educational Process

The curriculum is based on 4 semesters from 8 semesters.Our educational language is Turkish. During the study period, students take 75% Basic and Vocational courses and 25% Elective courses to complete 240 ECTS. Students who completed compulsory internship at the end of the 4th and 6th semesters complete their education with the completion project in the 8th semester.Students can benefit from the Double Major program, where they can continue their education in another section concurrent with the one they are reading, or the Minor program, where they can partly participate in undergraduate studies in another department that is close to the subject of the undergraduate departments. In addition, students can study at European universities for half-term or one academic year and at universities in the country with the Farabi Student Exchange Program within the framework of the agreements made under the Erasmus Learning Mobility.In addition, they have the opportunity to gain vocational training and work experience in an organization or organization in Europe under the Erasmus Internship Mobility Program.

Educational program; There are 3 classrooms belonging to the Department of Engineering classrooms and they are still in the technical drawing classrooms and computer laboratories which are common.We pay attention to the transformation of our theoretical knowledge into practice and in this respect we have included practical lessons in the program; General Chemistry, Environmental Microbiology, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Engineering Laboratory, Research Project and Completion Project.There is also a laboratory environment in which lecturers can conduct their studies.In our research laboratories, project works supported by TÜBİTAK, BAP and Private Sector are being carried out.

In addition to providing our students with the best scientific way to grow, opportunities are offered to support cultural and social activities.
