Since its establishment in 1994, our Landscape Architecture Department, which has provided education for 25 years within the Faculty of Forestry under the roof of Zonguldak Karaelmas University and then Bartın University since 2008, continues to provide education under the "Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design" by completing the staff transitions as of December 19, 2019 after the name of the Faculty of Engineering affiliated to the Rectorate of Bartın University was changed to "Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design" with the 1157 Presidential Decree published in the Legal Gazette dated June 25, 2019 and numbered 30812.
Landscape Planning and Design, Landscape Techniques and Plant Material and Cultivation Departments continue their educational activities with 5 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 1 Doctor Research Assistants and 2 Research Assistants.
Admission Requirements : The student who wants to register to department has to complete the examinations / tests determined by the Student Selection and Placement Center within the academic and legal regulations of the university. A student who has started to study in the equivalent program at home or abroad may apply for a transfer. Acceptance of the students is examined at the beginning of the semester, taking into consideration the conditions of each student and the degree to which he / she has applied, and is considered specially. More information about entering the university is available in the Institutional Presentation Catalog. Students from abroad who are approved by the university and whose borders are determined by an agreement can take courses given in English in the department. If the student is proficient in Turkish language, he / she can enroll in any Turkish course mentioned in the course plan.
Graduation Requirements : Students who successfully complete the courses specified in the course plan and the minimum number of elective courses required, have at least 240 credits and have an average of 2.00 / 4 will graduate.
Degree to be Earned : A student studying the Department of Landscape Architecture receives a total of 240 ECTS (Existing: 220) theoretical and practical courses in the field at the end of four years of education. When the program is successfully completed and program qualifications are provided, the Bachelor's Diploma and Landscape Architect title is acquired in the field of Landscape Architecture.
Transition to Higher Level : The Landscape Architect is a person who produces projects on the basis of science and art in the fields of planning, designing, repairing, conservation and management in accordance with ecological, economic, aesthetic and functional criteria, taking into account the conservation - use balance of the natural and cultural components and environments that make up the landscape. The main working areas of the Landscape Architect are listed as follows: A) In many public institutions, especially local administrations (Investment Planning Departments, Urban Development Departments, Environmental Protection Departments, Parks and Gardens Directorates, City and Regional Planning Directorates, Urban Design Directorates, Culture and Nature Conservation Boards, Environment and Urbanism Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Public Works and Settlement, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Turkish Standards Institute, State Planning Organization, General Directorate of Highways, Iller Bank, EIA, protected area conservation and planning units, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, Tourism Research Institutes, tourism facilities and other public institutions) B) Scientific research institutions and universities C) There is a possibility to work in the private sector (in the private sector with the law numbered 5531, in private landscaping architecture- architecture- urban and regional planning- civil engineering bureaus or firms, ornamental plants and private companies producing and marketing inanimate materials). Students who have successfully completed the program can apply for graduate and post graduate degrees in Landscape Architecture science field or other sciences that accept students from this area.
Employment Opportunities : Opportunity to work in the environment, green space and landscape arrangement units of the Directorate of Municipal Parks and Recreations, the General Directorate of Highways etc., in the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, and Special Research Institutions, in private Landscape Architecture facilities, in various tourism facilities, private businesses and nurseries that produce and market ornamental plants.
