The Mining Engineering Doctoral Program at FTTM-ITB focuses on mining and metallurgical sciences to meet the demand for experts in these sectors. The program aims to: Provide high-quality education, research, and community service at the doctoral level, supporting ITB’s growth and the Indonesian mining industry. Produce graduates with strong academic abilities, professional ethics, and expertise in Earth Resource Exploration, Geomechanics, Mineral & Coal Management and Economics, Mining Environmental Management, and Mineral & Metallurgical Engineering. Advance and disseminate mining and metallurgical technology for societal benefit. The core of mining engineering encompasses the science and technology of mineral and coal extraction and their efficient, sustainable utilization. The curriculum is designed to develop human resources who can contribute to Indonesia’s mining sector. Program Objectives & Graduate Attributes Graduates of this program are expected to: Conduct independent research. Uphold ethics and morals in scientific advancements. Transfer knowledge within their scientific community. The 2019 curriculum emphasizes: Producing graduates who conduct original research and contribute significantly to the mining sector. Training professionals capable of disseminating knowledge in their fields. Dissertation Research Areas Research topics include: Genetic and environmental models of mineral and coal deposits. Fracture kinetics in coal and hydrogeochemical modeling. Mineral resource and reserve evaluation, conservation, and mine drainage optimization. Rock engineering, geomechanics, and hydrogeological modeling. Metallurgical engineering: high-temperature corrosion modeling, high-entropy refractory alloy design, and coal gasification parameter evaluation. Laboratory Facilities (Shared with the undergraduate program) Mine Environmental Laboratory Mineral Exploration & Evaluation Laboratory Mineralogy, Microscopy & Geochemistry Laboratory Hydrogeology & Hydrogeochemistry Laboratory Geomechanics & Mining Equipment Laboratory Mine Planning & Valuation Laboratory Mineral Economics & Computation Laboratory This doctoral program fosters independent researchers and professionals who contribute to scientific advancements and the sustainable development of the mining industry.
