The Master's Program in Mathematics Teaching at ITB is established as a form of academic attention within the Mathematics community at ITB to improve the condition of mathematics education in schools. Improvements in mathematics education in schools can be achieved through three factors: curriculum, learning resources, and teachers. Research by Sanders and colleagues in the United States shows that teachers are the dominant factor influencing students' academic achievement [1]. Another study by Ferguson and Ladd shows that students' test scores in mathematics and reading correlate positively with two teacher variables, one of which is a master's education [2]. Therefore, this study program focuses on efforts to improve the quality of school mathematics teachers. The Master's Program in Mathematics Teaching at ITB is a formal higher education academic program aimed at enhancing the professionalism of its participants as mathematics teachers in schools. This is done by improving the competence of students in mathematics and related aspects of learning. Program Objectives The Master's Program in Mathematics Teaching at ITB educates its graduates to become noble and professional educators/teachers, who are devoted to God Almighty; uphold human values in their work; internalize values, norms, academic ethics, and professional ethics; be critical and responsible for their work in their field of expertise independently and with integrity, open-minded, willing to continue learning, and capable of playing roles as: Educators/teachers who comprehensively master mathematics material relevant to the mathematics taught in schools, so that participants can teach it correctly. Educators/teachers who master the principles of mathematics learning so they can develop effective mathematics teaching methods. Educators/teachers who can use technological aids such as computers and other software in developing effective mathematics teaching methods. Educators/teachers who can demonstrate leadership/pioneering in interacting with others and working in groups.
