The areas near NTU are filled with dining options and shops that fulfill your daily needs, making university life incredibly convenient.
At National Taiwan University, you will never feel bored. There are over 400 student clubs here, covering a wide range of activities from business consulting to balloon art creation. You are highly likely to meet like-minded local and international friends. Regardless of your hobbies or interests, these clubs often help students find a second home at NTU. Even if none of the existing clubs interest you, you can choose to start your own!
The NTU Main Library holds 2.4 million volumes and is the largest university library in Taiwan. The library includes a large multimedia center offering electronic resources and recreational media for student use. In addition, the library provides 24-hour study spaces, discussion rooms, and private study cubicles—ideal places for students to prepare for class or conduct research.
To encourage an active lifestyle, National Taiwan University provides a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including a gymnasium, running track, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, and courts and fields for basketball, soccer, volleyball, badminton, tennis, baseball, softball, handball, and squash. NTU students can also borrow most sports equipment for free.
NTU has an on-campus health center that, based on Taiwan’s affordable National Health Insurance system, offers students and faculty low-cost appointments and convenient medical services. In addition to experienced family medicine (general practice) doctors providing diagnostic services, specialists from other medical fields also offer high-quality primary care services.
The NTU Counseling Center employs professional psychologists and social workers dedicated to promoting students' mental health and well-being. To provide an inclusive and comfortable environment for students seeking help, the center offers counseling services in both Chinese and English. The center also houses an Office of Disability Support Services, working to make higher education more accessible for everyone.
International students, overseas Chinese students, students from Hong Kong and Macao, and students from mainland China are given priority for on-campus housing. Each dormitory offers a different living experience. You can choose to live alone or share with up to three roommates. In addition, dorm common areas include facilities for table tennis, exercise, relaxation in lounges, and more.
Although the NTU main campus is located in the city, it still has numerous greenhouses, farmland, and even a livestock farm featuring a cattle and pig herds. The farm supports various experiments and research, carrying out around 80 projects annually. Students from the College of Bioresources and Agriculture can participate in hands-on research projects without leaving campus. All students can purchase products made by the university farm at the agricultural product sales center. Popular items include fresh milk, yogurt, soy milk, ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, fresh vegetables, handmade soap, and more.
Inspired by NTU's iconic Drunken Moon Lake and the imagery of a train platform, New Moon Pavilion symbolizes meeting, waiting, and new beginnings. More than a shop or café, it is a cultural hub — where NTU's people and guests connect, share stories, and carry home memories of the university.
NTUH has been trusted by the community for more than a century because the hospital has never stopped advancing over the course of Taiwan's history. In addition to guiding healthcare policies and social reforms, the hospital also plays an influential role in our society. Consequently the hospital will continue to serve as a model, and with courage, while staying true to its philosophy of serving even when circumstances are tough, whether with respect to healthcare education, research, or service.
As part of NTU’s commitment to respecting all cultures and religions, the university maintains two dedicated Muslim prayer rooms, one on the 1st Floor next to room 101 of the BOYA Lecture Building, and a second on the B1F of the NTU Main Library. Both spaces are open to all members of the university community. If you would like to register to use the prayer rooms, please fill outthe online application form.

Student clubs are categorized into 8 types: sports/training, community service, social development, recreation, academic, arts, autonomous (clubs affiliated with colleges/departments), and comprehensive (clubs that span multiple categories). If you can’t find a club that matches your interests, you are welcome to start your own.
If you’re an international student interested in gaining a deeper understanding of local life in Taiwan—including politics, history, economy, and other societal areas—you might consider joining the Taiwan Homestay Program. This program is designed to provide international students with an opportunity to "get to know Taiwan and experience Taiwan" by matching them with local host families. It not only promotes language learning but also enhances understanding of different cultural backgrounds.
Tuition fees vary depending on the college, degree level, year of study, and student status. Tuition includes administrative fees, miscellaneous fees, and credit fees, meaning students can take courses without paying additional fees.
Nanyang Technological University believes that higher education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial means. A variety of scholarships are available from NTU, the Taiwan government, and other organizations for students of different nationalities, for both undergraduate and graduate degrees, for specific graduate programs, and even for certain Chinese language study programs. For scholarships related to non-degree programs (such as exchange and visiting students), please contact your home university.
Living costs vary from person to person. Although Taipei is a modern metropolis, the cost of living is relatively affordable. The estimated cost of living per semester (6 months), including books, accommodation, National Health Insurance, and general living expenses, ranges from NT$65,400 to NT$156,000 (approximately USD 2,180–5,200).
To further support financial needs, international students may apply for a work permit and work up to 20 hours per week during the semester while in Taiwan.
Empowering Students Through Community and Career Development
NTU provides students with group-based opportunities that allow them to grow within a vibrant and supportive community. Career guidance goes hand-in-hand with innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, expanding students’ personal and professional development potential.
The NTU International Mentorship Program is the university’s first summer internship program specifically designed for international degree students. The program aims to bridge Taiwan with the global talent market and to inspire the next generation of leaders.
To enhance students' global professional competencies and help them build international networks, NTU collaborates with overseas enterprises and innovative organizations—such as IBM Research and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in the UK—to provide interdisciplinary international internship opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. This program fosters international exchange, broadens students’ perspectives, and nurtures them into globally-minded professionals.
In collaboration with Impact Hub Taipei, NTU offers a training program for Taiwanese university students interested in sustainable development and non-profit work. Centered around project-based learning, students participate as interns and work with Taiwan-based NGOs or international NGOs (iNGOs) involved in global affairs. Through English-taught courses and a 16-week internship that integrates theory and practice, the program aims to help students build global networks, enhance problem-solving skills, and prepare for a future career in the NGO sector.
The Career Center provides NTU students and alumni with career planning information and services to enhance professional skills, adaptability, and competitiveness. Services include:
Professional career counseling
Support in expanding academic paths to strengthen employability skills
Data collection to improve career development services
Promotion of the “NTU Internship Program” to encourage active student participation in internships and readiness for employment.
