Whether you want a strategic understanding of social media, refined creative skills through professional writing or the communications sensitivity to make an entrepreneurial impact, the MA in Communication, Media Practice and Public Relations (PR) is ideal.
You will undertake structured practice in modern media skills, taught by motivated industry professionals with impressive academic credentials.
Gaining valuable professional media skills improves your prospects for a successful career in journalism, public relations, broadcasting, entrepreneurship, advertising or marketing.
If you are already an industry professional, this course offers dynamic new media skills and qualifications to boost your continuing professional development.
Applications for January 2023 entry have now closed. The next course entry point will be September 2023.
As in any MA level programme, the key element is the major project or dissertation that is worth 60 credit and enables students to develop expertise in a specific area of interest. It is important that potential students give this some thought before arriving and have a general idea of what part of communications, media, PR or creative practice that interest them, so that they have a good starting point from where to refine the project with the help of a supervisor.
Students should be computer literate, with a good level of competence using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and so on. While the Microsoft suite can be downloaded for free once you are enrolled a student at Swansea, ideally you should also have access to a computer/laptop that can support this software, so that you can continue you with your work when not in the specialist labs.
