At its twelfth session, held on 11/27/1402 AH, the University Council approved the establishment of an engineering department within the College of Applied and Engineering Sciences.
Through the needs survey, the result came that the specialty of Islamic architecture does not exist in Saudi and other universities, and the Islamic nation as a whole is in need of such a specialty to revive our Islamic heritage in the urban environment. Thus, interest began in the idea of ​​Islamic architecture, and a unique and unparalleled program was developed for it. For him anywhere, as the university began implementing the Islamic Architecture Program approved by the decision of the University Council in its fifth session on 3/14/1404 AH, where the first batch of students was received at the beginning of the first semester of the year 1403/1404 AH.
Efforts were then devoted to preparing engineering programs in the specializations of civil engineering, electrical engineering, computers, and mechanical engineering, as this was approved by the University Council at its fourteenth session on 8/26/1404 AH, and the engineering departments received the first batch in engineering programs in the first semester of the year 1405/1406 AH..
In continuation of the development of these programs, the University Council recommended in its thirteenth session on 8/15/1404 AH the establishment of an independent college for Islamic Engineering and Architecture, and this matter was achieved in the year 1409 AH with the establishment of this college, which included four departments at the beginning of its inception.
