The Department’s Curricula and Academic Programs Development Committee submitted proposals and new study programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels (the old master’s program, the new master’s program, and the doctoral program in art education), so that the department went through many stages of development, ending in its final stages with the issuance of His Excellency the University President, Professor Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Bahsin Bafail issued an administrative decision approving the implementation of the decision of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Chairman of the University Affairs Council, to transfer (the Department of Art Education at the College of Education) to (the College of Designs and Arts) and change its name to (Department of Visual Arts).
This decision reflects the signs of developing the culture and arts sector in the Kingdom, establishing incubator centers for creativity in various fields of arts, as well as creating a cultural industry concerned with the arts, and artistic and plastic activities, transforming them into a major component of the economy, developing and strengthening national identity, and emphasizing its effective role as a prominent witness to Map of human civilizations. The program's vision stems from leadership and excellence in the field of visual arts and designs regionally, and a reference for training, qualification and scientific consultation. He confirms his message to me Preparing, qualifying and training national academic and professional cadres based on scientific research and creativity, and compatible with the labor market in the field of visual arts and designs and achieving Vision 2030.. 
The visual arts program achieves many general goals that stem from: Preparing specialists in the visual arts, contributing to the qualification of practitioners using modern scientific methods and tools, and meeting the needs of institutions in accordance with the labor market.
