In accordance with the approval of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture dated March 10, 1997 Number 455 / D / T / 1997, then through the Decree of the Minister of Religion Number 139 of 1997 which was stipulated on March 26, 1997, IAIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung was officially permitted to organize a Postgraduate program. Then, on April 19, 2004, based on the Decree of the Director General of Bagais regarding the establishment permit for the Doctoral level for the Islamic Law Study Program and Islamic Education was received and the two study programs were opened.
The Doctoral Study Program in Islamic Law at the Postgraduate Program of the Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University of Bandung (UIN SGD Bandung) as an institution of higher Islamic education and teaching, has a great responsibility to participate in developing Islamic and social sciences, as well as solving various problems faced in the development process. Based on this awareness and responsibility, UIN SGD Bandung, from time to time, continues to strive to make improvements, especially in the academic field.
The community's need for the availability of experts and awareness of the importance of improving the development of academic quality, are the starting points for improving the quality of service of the Doctoral Study Program in Islamic Law UIN SGD Bandung in its implementation. The implementation of the Postgraduate Program as a whole has been running well and must be improved in terms of comprehensive and continuous academic services.
The Doctoral Study Program in Islamic Law in its implementation system is guided by the legal basis of Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System, Law No. 12 of 2012 on Higher Education, and Government Regulation No. 19 of 2005 on National Education Standards. So that it is expected to be able to increase the effectiveness of learning and curriculum which is constantly being developed to ensure its existence in the development of science in the scope of Islamic Law.
