The Family Law Study Program (Ahwal Syakhsiyah) is one of the study programs at the Faculty of Sharia and Law, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. Until now, the existence of the Family Law study program (Ahwal Syakhsiyah) is still a masterpiece of Islamic law, especially Islamic family law and Islamic justice, at the Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University, Bandung. Legally, this study program was formed and operated since the issuance of the Decree of the Rector of IAIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung Number: IN.10/0/PP.00.9/17/1996 and the Decree of Operational Permit from the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia No. DJ.I/385/2008 dated October 27, 2008. However, the age of this study program does not exceed the Decree. At first, de facto, this study program was named "Qadha" which in its pair later changed its name to "Peradilan Agma". However, based on semantic considerations and input from various groups, the name should be changed because it refers to one of the judicial institutions in Indonesia. Then the name "Ahwal Syakhsiyah" appeared, which refers to the nomenclature of the family law study program at Al-Azhar University in Cairo and now based on the Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs Number 36 of 2009 concerning the Determination of Fields of Science and Academic Degrees in Religious Higher Education Environments, the nomenclature has become Family Law (Ahwal Syakhsiyah).
