Postgraduate UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung was established in 1997 based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. At the beginning of its establishment, the Postgraduate had one study program, namely Islamic Religious Studies (IAI) with several concentrations. In subsequent developments in accordance with the nomenclature issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Postgraduate UIN Bandung divided the IAI study program into several study programs, one of which was Sharia Economic Law.
The Islamic Economics Masters Study Program, which was established in 2007 based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number. Dj.I./53/2011 concerning the Operational Permit for the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program (S2) at the IAIN Bandung Postgraduate Program, dated January 22, 2015, has formulated the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program. The formulation of the Vision, Mission, Goals, and Targets of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program, UIN Bandung Postgraduate Program, was proposed by the Head of the study program at the meeting of the lecturer consortium of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program on February 22, 2016. Based on the discussion of the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program, the Vision of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program was determined as follows: "To become a superior and competitive study program in the field of Islamic Economics based on revelation guiding knowledge within the framework of good morals in ASEAN in 2025". Along with the development of the Vision of the UIN Bandung Postgraduate Program which is adjusted to the University's Vision, the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program is taking steps to conduct a review of the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program which is expected to produce a formulation of the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program that is in accordance with the demands of stakeholders, by paying attention to the Vision of the Postgraduate Program and the Vision of the University. The mechanism for reviewing the vision, mission, goals and targets of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program, UIN Bandung Postgraduate Program is carried out through workshops both internally and externally. Internal Workshops by presenting stakeholders/banking practitioners
