This course is the only one in France to offer complete training in English linguistics including different levels of analysis (syntax, semantics, pragmatics, phonetics, phonology) and a comparative dimension, while providing the appropriate tools for processing speech and writing.


Students are trained in research and through research. They are supported to present their work at conferences.

  • Conversational analysis, dialogue, interaction, questions;
  • Verbal anaphora, verbal complementation, nominalizations;
  • Time, aspect, modality, evidentiality;
  • Phonetics and phonology of English accents, learners' pronunciation, syllable phonology.

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study. This is a selective program. Applications include transcripts, a CV, a cover letter and the outline of a research project, as well as a letter of support from one of the faculty members from the English department (who agrees to supervise the research project and has validated it). Language pre-requisites: Near native fluency in English (C1/C2 level).
