Yale?s Doctoral of Philosophy Program is Nursing is rated among the top 5 programs in the U.S. The Program is designed to prepare nurse scientists who conduct cutting edge research that links theory and clinical practice. Graduates are prepared for research and faculty positions in academic, clinical, and other settings where research skills are needed. Students have the opportunity to study with nationally and internationally-recognized faculty to address the most pressing health problems. YSN provides excellent pre- and post-doctoral opportunities, many of which are NIH-funded. Currently, we have NIH training programs in Multidisciplinary Behavioral Research in Type 1 Diabetes and Self and Family Management of Chronic Illnesses. Fields of study include chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, obesity cardiovascular disease, cancer, HIV/AIDS, sleep disorders); symptoms; self- and family management; maternal and child health; policy and politics of health care; global health; health equity and care of vulnerable populations; acute and critical care; end-of-life and palliative care; and school- and community-based interventions.

All applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate-level degree. Other English language Requirements: Yale?s most competitive applicants will have TOEFL scores of at least the following, 600 on the paper-based TOEFL, 250 on the computer-based TOEFL.
