The growth of events in the tourism, hospitality and business sectors has led to a demand for graduates with practical know-how and business skills. This course aims to produce graduates with creative and strategic minds equipped to organise a wide variety of events, the first step in becoming an event professional. Whilst developing a broad knowledge of the industry, you will also be able to specialise in specific event sectors via our elective unit system. All of our units have been written in partnership with the events industry and our event partners, ensuring that they are on-trend. Throughout the course there will be opportunities to complete a range of additional industry short courses, volunteer at numerous events and work on live events projects. Manchester, as an internationally renowned events destination is ideally located for studying events management. Being in the heart of the city provides you with access to many major music, food and drink, sporting and cultural events and a multitude of conferencing venues, all year round. We also offer a four-year placement route where you have the opportunity to spend your third year on placement in industry. Our BA (Hons) Events Management course is accredited by the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers. Group work on events projects with local organisations provides practical experience from Year 1 of the course. Manchester is an ideal location to study events management, giving you access to many major music, food and drink, sporting and cultural events. This course has been specifically designed in response to the growth of major events within the tourism, hospitality, leisure and business sectors. You will gain a broad insight into the events industry covering the seasonality of events and the role of events in the wider visitor economy, including how sporting events can be used as a tool for social cohesion. You will study events marketing and events project management focusing on special events and how to tackle a client brief. In addition you will investigate a range of key event legislation and its impact on the industry.
