The general mission of the study program is to specialize and professionalize graduates of bachelor's studies in the field of Chemical Engineering in the complex activities related to the organization and coordination of research laboratories. Considering that these specialists conceive, design, put into operation, exploit and optimize efficient processes and equipment for the chemical and biochemical transformation of raw materials into finished products, the design of the study program's curriculum took into account the skills that the future specialist must acquire.

The specific mission of the study program Chemistry of Bioactive Molecules: Production, Valorisation, Control and Quality Assurance is to train professionals with in-depth knowledge of biochemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and process engineering capable of designing and developing chemical and biochemical processes on an industrial scale, in order to use them for the production of goods: medicines, cosmetics, food, etc. and who can continue either to pursue doctoral studies or to integrate into educational, research, development, production units.

The objectives pursued are to transmit to students the basic knowledge necessary for advanced training in the chemistry and engineering of biologically active compounds with applications in the pharmaceutical, food or cosmetic fields, in structural analysis, control and quality assurance of raw materials and the finished product. This training will allow them to establish the best strategies for obtaining bioactive molecules, applying modern and "clean" working techniques and their valorization. The study program also allows them to master combined or coupled analytical methods for the dosage of trace compounds from complex environments, such as biological structures or environmental factors, as well as for the isolation and characterization of bioactive molecules from plant extracts usable in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

Knowledge transmitted: knowledge of modern strategies of organic synthesis; knowledge of the design of new structures and the prediction of their physical properties; complementary training in bioinorganic chemistry and structural biochemistry, in order to understand and predict the mechanism of action of new compounds; knowledge of biological molecules and natural compounds; knowledge of quality assurance; knowledge of extractive and separation techniques; familiarization with the principles and methods of modeling and simulation of industrial processes; processing of experimental data with use in measurements, instrumentation, reliability, experimental identification of industrial processes; ensuring a high level of understanding of the structure-biological activity relationship and the possibilities of valorization in the case of natural compounds; ensuring knowledge regarding product engineering; ensuring the ability to design an economically efficient technological process for the complete and complex valorization of natural raw materials; knowledge regarding techniques and procedures regarding the search for a job: professional project, labor market, letter of intent, CV;

Applying the knowledge and techniques transmitted to achieve an objective: development, analysis, determination of the structure of complex organic molecules; defining optimal synthesis strategies; defining optimal analysis strategies; dosing traces of bioactive molecules in complex environments; combining high-precision analytical methods with computerized data processing; drafting technical projects and reports; developing the ability to work in a team; developing the ability to synthesize and present a paper, orally or in writing; designing and drafting procedures in accordance with the regulations in force.

Developed skills: curiosity; scientific rigor; rapid analysis of information; information synthesis; adaptability; teamwork; organization and management of priorities; improvement of relationships, written and oral communication.

The declared results of the study program Chemistry of Bioactive Molecules: Production, Valorisation, Control and Quality Assurance translate into the professional skills that graduates of this program acquire: perform laboratory simulations; approve engineering projects; evaluate research activities; carry out research activities at an interdisciplinary level; write scientific, academic papers and technical documentation; interact professionally in research and professional environments; ensure project management; demonstrate disciplinary expertise; describe chemical innovations brought to products.

Transversal skills: organize information, objects and resources; apply scientific, technological and engineering knowledge.

The entire teaching and research activity of the study program Chemistry of Bioactive Molecules: Production, Valorisation, Control and Quality Assurance is designed to be student-centered and a great emphasis is placed on the use of modern methods and techniques of high academic and scientific level in both the teaching process and research.
