​The "Physiotherapy and Special Motricity" (KMS) undergraduate program at "Vasile Alecsandri" University of Bacău is offered by the Faculty of Movement, Sports and Health Sciences.

The KMS program is a full-time undergraduate course leading to a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy. The  physiotherapists are  allied health professionals, which  plays a vital part in treating, rehabilitating and improving the lives of patients.  They have the competencies to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of doctors and nurses, in a range of settings including hospitals, patient’s homes, rezidential centers, social assistance centers, helping patients overcome obstacles, neurologically, mentally and physically.  It helps individuals of all ages maintain, restore, or improve their physical strength, mobility, and overall quality of life,  regain their independence after an injury or operation, or as a result of ageing or a disability . By diagnosing physical issues and offering tailored treatment plans, physiotherapists help patients overcome limitations caused by injury, age, or health conditions. Physiotherapists are competent  and entitled to practise the profession, without limitation, and in accordance with the definition of physiotherapist  practice within their individual countries. Physiotherapist program is the integration of theory, evidence, and  experiential practice that continues  throughout professional life.

The program facilitate the continuing intellectual, professional, and personal development of students  and qualified physiotherapists,   who continuously apply their learning and use it to develop and improve their  professional practice through a process of:  professional practice, application of learning to theoreticalsimulated,  and practice activities and situations,  reflection  on learning, performance,  and experiences. 

The program is build on World Physiotherapy’s policy statement. T he main goal is to prepare the students as qualified and professionally  required, in order to achieve good outcomes for clients, including:

  • assess: undertaking a comprehensive examination/assessment of their client’s needs (or needs of a client group)  and evaluating the findings to make clinical judgments regarding their clients;
  • plan: formulating a diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention  plan within their expertise and determining whether physiotherapy is applicable and whether their  client needs to be referred to another professional
  • implement: implementing a physiotherapist intervention and education programme in agreement and collaboration with the client, and measuring response
  • evaluate: evaluating the outcomes of any interventions or education
  • modify: modifying plans as required
  • discharge: developing a discharge plan at the appropriate point in time when goals have been achieved or effectiveness is no longer evident

The students learn that physiotherapy interventions are undertaken within an active functional rehabilitation approach, which  enables optimal participation in everyday life. Physiotherapist practice is concerned with identifying and maximising  quality of life and functional movement potential encompassing physical, psychological, emotional, and social  wellbeing. The practice hours are focus in promotion, prevention, maintenance, intervention, rehabilitation, or a  combination of these. The students can practice in various settings, for example: hospitals, rehabilitation centers, social assistance centers, rezidential homes for ellderly, paliative care,  in homes, schools, education institutions,  fitness clubs, sports centres, prisons, industry; and in both urban and rural communities. The study program provide competencies to work as autonomous, independent practitioners and are subject to complying with ethical principles, the ability to practise safely and effectively in a range of contexts  and situations of varying levels of complexity.   

The programe is 180 ECTS credits, the diploma is international recognised, because of the compatible curriculum with interantional standards.

The number of practice hours is 1000 hours, with 300 compulsory hours and 700 optional hours, during the summer clinical  internship.

On successful completion of the  programme, the student will be able to demonstrate the learning outcomes: a dvanced knowledge of a field of  work or study, involving a critical  understanding of theories and  principles, demonstrate a  comprehensive range of  cognitive and practical skills  required to develop creative  solutions to abstract problem, manage complex technical or  professional activities or projects; take responsibility for decision making in unpredictable work or  study contexts; take responsibility  for managing professional  development of individuals and  groups
