Mechanical Engineering BEng (Hons) provides you with the skills and abilities to become a professional engineer; you will study design, development, installation, operation and maintenance of just about anything that has movable parts. This could be from massive structures like oil platforms, to large jet engines, and single valves. You will also gain a number of analytical skills which are both subject related and as well as at a professional level, ensuring that you leave with the confidence to face challenging engineering situations in modern industry. This course is dual accredited by the IET and Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on behalf of the Engineering Council, and students who successfully graduate with this degree may, with the appropriate further learning, meet the academic requirement for registration as a chartered engineer. 89 per cent of graduates from this course are in full-time employment or further education within six months of completing their course (DLHE 2015/16). Mechanical Engineering at DMU also has the second highest overall satisfaction in the NSS across all Higher Eductaion Providers.
