Studying Politics BA (Hons) at DMU develops one’s understanding of the political decisions, processes and ideas that shape people’s lives. Students will gain an in-depth knowledge of current political issues, and have opportunities to gain work experience, meet practitioners and travel overseas. The teaching team have high-achieving works in quality assessment exercises and individually has received National Teaching Fellow Status in recognition of their outstanding teaching. In the first two years, teaching will be conducted in the form of a weekly hour-long lectures and seminars in which students will discuss the issues raised in lectures. In the third year, teaching is in a two-hour workshop format where students often get to decide on the topics that are debated. Assessments are conducted through assignments, essays, exams, class presentations, seminar contributions, student’s portfolio and dissertation.
