The Iowa State University Community and Regional Planning Program offers the Master of Community and Regional Planning (MCRP) degree with areas of concentration in land use and transportation, community design and development, and rural and environmental planning. Students may design their own area of concentration with the assistance of their major professor. The primary focus of the MCRP degree is to prepare students with the education and practical skills to be leaders in the practice of planning. Our graduate program is accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP). The Planetizen 2012 Guide to Gradate Urban Planning Programs ranks our MCRP program 13th in the nation among programs that do not grant a PhD, and 6th overall among all Midwestern graduate urban planning programs (including those that offer a doctoral degree).
