Pharmaceutical Science can benefit and transform patients’ lives. Spanning the worlds of chemistry and biology, it discovers, develops and analyses medicines. If you’re considering a career in the pharmaceutical industry, this course will give you the knowledge and practical skills for success.

This course explores drug discovery, pharmacology, toxicology and examines the most effective ways that medicines are manufactured, packaged, stored and administered. You’ll take part in innovative research, including new methods of drug delivery and drug synthesis.

At the end of Year 1, you may apply to transfer to the MPharm Pharmacy course (dependent on your academic performance and an interview). Transfer is to Year 1 of the MPharm course.

BTEC Diploma/Extended Diploma in Applied Science (Chemistry) only must have merits in the following units:

  • Unit 1 : "Principles and Applications in Science 1"
  • Unit 5: "Principles and Applications in Science 2"
  • Unit 13: "Applications of Inorganic Chemistry"
  • Unit 14: "Applications of Organic Chemistry"

T-Level:

  • Merit in T-Level Science: including a minimum of a B in the Core component and a merit in the Occupational Specialism which must be either in laboratory sciences or metrology sciences.

Candidates are normally required to hold five GCSE subjects at grade C/4 or above, including Mathematics and English Language.
