This course introduces you to pharmacy as a sciencebased healthcare professional. The foundation year is designed so that you’ll not only have solid theoretical understanding in each of the subject areas, but gain good grounding in practical experience and help you feel confident to progress to more demanding aspects of the MPharm degree course.

Success in your foundation year means you’ll be able to progress to the MPharm degree course. You’ll need an average of 70 per cent in the foundation year science modules (with at least 70 per cent in Chemistry).

You’ll also need to attend a value-based interview and receive satisfactory health checks and enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Example modules – Biology – Chemistry – Professional and Scientific Skills for Pharmacy

You’ll be able to progress to Year 1 of the MPharm course if you meet the above requirements. If you pass the course but don’t meet the requirements for pharmacy, you may progress to other science-based degree courses which lead to careers in the chemical/ pharmaceutical industry or medical research.
