What separates good from world-class? On this degree, you’ll explore the science that drives peak performance and learn how to apply it in real sporting environments. 
  You’ll immerse yourself in the interdisciplinary science of sport performance. From biomechanics and physiology to nutrition and psychology, you’ll study how the body and mind perform under pressure – and how to push them further, safely and sustainably.  

Through a blend of theory, laboratory work, and real-world experience, you’ll develop the knowledge, analytical ability, and practitioner confidence to support athletes at every stage of their journey. You’ll graduate ready to make a measurable impact in high-performance sport – from emerging talent to elite competitors. 

As part of this course, you’ll:

  • Develop expertise across biomechanics, nutrition, physiology, and sport psychology, understanding how these disciplines combine to optimise performance  
  • Build advanced practical and research skills, using industry-standard performance-measuring technologies and laboratory equipment 
  • Learn to assess, monitor, and enhance athletic development in both individual and team sports

GCSE English Language and Maths at Grade 4 or above (Grade C for GCSEs taken before 2017) or equivalent. Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy are accepted in place of GCSEs.

Access to HE Diploma Pass overall with 112-128 UCAS tariff points in a relevant subject.

T Levels Pass overall with 112-128 UCAS tariff points, including a C or above on the core, in a relevant subject.

Scottish Awards 112-128 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 5 Highers of which at least 2 must be grade B or above and should include at least one science subject.

Irish Leaving Certificate 112-128 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 5 subjects at higher level of which at least 3 must be grade H3 or above and should include at least one science subject.

International baccalaureate 112-128 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 3 Highers of which at least 2 must be grade H5 or above and should include at least one science subject.

IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.
