The programme brings together the three pillars of the main training in the field: academic education, research training and personal/professional development.
A major advantage of the Professional Doctorate in Education is that it greatly emphasizes on the employability of graduates, throughout their presence and collaboration with public and private educational institution.
This process enables students to improve critical thinking and critical synthesis abilities.
The EdD is a five-year, part-time modular programme with an accompanying thesis, specifically directed to professional development in education through research. It consists of two stages. In Stage One, four compulsory modules are studied and assessed over a two-year period (language of delivery: Greek). Once the research stage of the course has reached progression, the candidate is annually reviewed by academics and professionals with expertise. This team is independent of the candidate’s supervisory team.
In Stage Two, students complete, submit and present their research thesis by oral examination (language of delivery: English).
The examination of the research component of the Doctor of Education has two stages: firstly, the submission and preliminary assessment of the research; and secondly its defense.
