MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy is a practice-oriented programme that equips students with the knowledge and skills to safely and ethically become counsellors and psychotherapists. It is the only Greek-speaking Master’s degree in counselling and psychotherapy in the Greek language, in collaboration with a British University. The main goals of the programme are to to theoretically and practically train in counselling and psychotherapy in an appropriate manner for the safe, ethical and effective practical application. Another goal is to allow students to obtain a degree that fulfils the criteria for joining the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), and may lead to acquiring a psychotherapy accreditation from the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. In addition, it offers graduates the opportunity for academic and professional development within the professional community of counsellors/psychotherapists. Finally, graduates may join the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), following the completion of a 2-year training (PGDip) and 100 hours of supervised counselling practice. Registration as a member requires an application by the graduate.
It is addressed to anyone that wants to train in counselling and psychotherapy within a university programme. It relies on the premise that humans are complex and it is risky to interpret their behaviour on the basis of a single theory-approach. Therefore, MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy offers training in the synthetic model, the latest trend in psychotherapy approaches. The therapeutic model taught in the programme is the internationally acknowledged Egan model, oriented towards direct problem solving.
