The BSc (Hons) Nursing at the Metropolitan College prepares new nurses to provide safe and effective care while cultivating a relationship of trust and respect with the patient, by using a mixed approach to learning, teaching and assessment. Nursing is an evolving profession whose continuous growth demands a wealth of scientific knowledge and clinical skills. Furthermore, it also requires the continuous increase of research work in nursing as well as the contribution of other disciplines (medicine, psychology, medical sciences, etc.). The main objective of the Nursing curriculum is to present current developments in theory and clinical practice, to promote a multidisciplinary approach to health care and research, and to support a critical approach to learning and practice. The methods contributing to studying the science of nursing are lectures, seminars, simulation and 2,300 hours of mandatory clinical practice (required for professional accreditation in EU states).
