Start your journey to becoming a pharmacist with the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) at Temple University’s School of Pharmacy. The PharmD program prepares you to take the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE), which are required examinations in the process to earn your pharmacist license. Through a dynamic curriculum, students prepare for pharmacy practice in a variety of settings, including academic, clinical, community, public health and the pharmaceutical industry.
Over four years, you’ll participate in shadow experiences, introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences (known as IPPE and APPE), dynamic coursework, labs and small group recitations. Through these experiential methods, you’ll develop the skills necessary to be a successful pharmacist.
Midway through the PharmD program, students tailor their educational experience to best align with their personal and professional needs. During their third year, students can customize their degree through an elective track in advanced clinical practice, business, clinical trials management or medication safety. For their fourth-year clinical rotations, students explore new and nontraditional areas of pharmacy practice in and around the city of Philadelphia, around the globe at affiliated sites, and within international pharmacy missionary rotations.
