Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting

Tyler's Painting and Drawing program provides the skills and concepts essential to artistic growth. The faculty has designed studio and seminar courses that foster the development of pictorial concepts realized in the tangible form of painting and drawing. The courses offer a range of both genre-based courses and advanced level courses. Upper level courses cover technical, formal, topical, and theory based issues. An extensive range of approaches will be presented in the context of both historical precedent and contemporary practice. The faculty advises each student to participate in a variety of studio experiences to facilitate the integration of technique with personal vision. This experience ranges through the aesthetic, the technical, and the well-formed idea. We are committed to providing our students with the understanding of the broad cultural and historical context in which art is made and experienced.
