In a world facing urgent global challenges, from climate change to digital transformation, the need for engineering and technology leaders with vision, adaptability and commercial awareness has never been greater.

Whether you are a recent graduate or have a few years of professional experience, this innovative one-year programme will give you the opportunity to combine your engineering background with essential management and leadership skills. We will support you in building the knowledge and capability to lead in technology-driven industries.

Choose Your Specialist Pathway

Tailor your experience through one of four focused pathways, each designed to meet the industrial demands:

  • Intelligent Manufacturing – Discover how digital technologies are revolutionising production. Learn to design and manage connected, data-driven manufacturing systems that shape the factories of the future.
  • Energy for Sustainability – Develop the skills to lead in the green energy transition. Understand policy, design low-carbon energy systems and address real-world energy challenges through hands-on projects.
  • Infrastructure Systems – Prepare to shape the smart cities of tomorrow. Explore sustainable infrastructure, asset management and the role of digital technologies in creating resilient systems.
  • Project Management – Build advanced project planning and delivery skills. Focus on managing resources, stakeholders and risks in complex engineering and technology projects.

The programme is built on three key pillars:

  • Digitisation – Understand how digital technologies and data transform industries and decision-making.
  • Sustainability – Explore practical approaches to reducing environmental impact and promoting circular economy principles.
  • Global Development – Address the global challenges faced by our societies and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals vision.

This Programme is ideal if you are ready to:

  • Lead the change in engineering and technology environments.
  • Combine your technical knowledge with business management strategy.
  • Tackle real-world challenges from day one.
  • Build the skills to thrive in a global workplace.

Whether you aim to lead major engineering projects, design sustainable technologies, rethink smart infrastructure systems, launch your own start-up or continue into advanced research, this programme gives you the tools to succeed. You will develop the knowledge and confidence to drive innovation where technology, business and sustainability meet.

You will typically need a strong lower second-class honours degree (55% or higher) or an international equivalent in a branch of engineering relevant to your chosen pathway.

We welcome applicants from a wide range of disciplines, provided there is evidence of relevant knowledge aligned to the chosen pathway. Please refer to the list below for well-recognised examples of suitable degree subjects for each pathway. Other degrees that have relevant knowledge and/or include elements of management are encouraged to apply and will be considered.

  • Infrastructure Systems pathway: Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering.
  • Intelligent Manufacturing pathway: Engineering Design, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics.
  • Energy for sustainability pathway: Engineering Design, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics, Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Sustainable Engineering, Nuclear Engineering.
  • Project Management pathway: any Engineering background.

STEM subjects (such as Environmental science, Mathematics, Chemistry, or Physics) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Unfortunately, degrees in Computing, Arts or Humanities are not accepted for this programme.

Applicants whose degree is not directly related to their chosen pathway but who have at least three years of relevant paid work experience or a postgraduate qualification in a related field are encouraged to apply. Applicants may be recommended for an alternative Engineering with Management pathway based on their academic background and work experience.

We will consider your application if your interim grades are currently slightly lower than the programme's entry requirements and may make you an aspirational offer. This offer would be at the standard level, so you would need to achieve the standard entry requirements by the end of your degree. Specific subject requirements would still apply.

We will also consider your application if your final overall achieved grade is slightly lower than the programme's entry requirement.

If your achieved grade is lower than our entry requirements, your application may be more likely to receive an offer if you have additional qualifications. Please include your CV when you apply, showing:
  • a relevant postgraduate qualification.
