The MSc in Engineering with Management is designed for graduates eager to combine management practices and modern engineering thinking and knowledge.

This unique, one-year master's degree covers the foundations of management that can be applied in the engineering and technology sectors, with the choice of three specialist pathways:

  • Option 1: Intelligent Manufacturing – Focuses on smart manufacturing - the idea of connected and data-driven factories. You will study the challenges in integrating information technology and manufacturing resources, preparing you to manage intelligent factories.
  • Option 2: Energy for Sustainability - Explores sustainable energy solutions, policy frameworks, available low-carbon technologies and how to integrate them into existing energy systems. You will gain expertise in designing renewable systems through real-world scenarios.
  • Option 3: Infrastructure Systems - Examines the future of smart cities, digitalised and sustainable infrastructure systems, how these assets are managed throughout their lifecycle, and the related risks and hazards.

The programme is built on three pillars: digitisation - focusing on digital transformation and leadership; sustainability - encouraging innovative practices to reduce environmental impact; and global development challenges - equipping leaders to advance technology while contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This programme is for you if you want to:

  • Develop as an innovative leader in engineering and technology
  • Combine technical engineering expertise with essential management skills
  • Build career-advancing skills through the Bristol Skills Profile
  • Learn through real-world case studies and insights from industry professionals and experienced academics

With world-leading companies including Arup, Babcock, DNV, GKN, Airbus, Rolls-Royce and the National Composite Centre on our doorstep, we have placed industry at the heart of this programme.
