The Master's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering aims to train graduates with a solid technical-scientific background in various fields of Civil and Environmental Engineering, creating versatile and autonomous professionals capable of working in a wide range of national and international settings.
Choosing an international degree program aligns with the growing globalization of the profession and the engineering education system. The student will complete their training entirely in English, acquiring technical language proficiency that will enable them to confidently navigate international professional environments.
A graduate of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Master's program will be able to design, plan, execute, manage, and oversee works, systems, facilities, and services in various areas of Civil Engineering, such as construction (building, industrial, strategic, historical, cultural heritage), infrastructure (bridges, tunnels, dams), networks (roads, railways, airports, distribution, collection, and disposal systems for water), and land defense works, with a focus on contemporary environmental protection, sustainability, and an interdisciplinary perspective. To this end, the program offers mandatory modules providing comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of all technical, regulatory, and functional aspects related to structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic design, as well as the construction and maintenance of buildings, hydraulic infrastructure, transport infrastructure, and environmental protection interventions, combining the strong tradition of civil engineering with the innovative aspects of research and the future job market. Additionally, elective modules are available, offering topics related to the program, enhancing the interdisciplinary nature, which is of great importance for the civil and environmental sector today.
Students must design their study plan to total 120 credits, including their thesis and potential internships at qualified companies. All students are also required to complete internships with major industry partners or international universities and research centers as part of international mobility programs, such as Erasmus+, with which the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio is partnered. Students may also choose to develop part of their academic project at a foreign university through the Erasmus+ mobility program.
Furthermore, students can select a "Civil Engineering" curriculum (dual degree with Tandon School of Engineering, New York University), which allows them to spend the first year at the University of Cassino and the second year at the Tandon School of Engineering at NYU (USA), earning a dual degree recognized in both Italy and the United States.
Admission to the Master's Degree program is open to students holding a three-year bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad. A proficiency in English at least at a B2 level, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, is required. This requirement is verified during enrollment according to the procedures outlined in the program's regulations. Candidates must also meet the curricular requirements specified in the program's regulations and demonstrate adequate personal preparation. For all details regarding the admission process, please refer to the specific section.
Career opportunities for graduates of the Master's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering include positions in private construction or public works, as freelancers or employees in design firms, construction companies, public agencies, service companies in both European and non-European contexts, and in specialized consultancy roles, often in managerial positions. The Master's graduate will possess professional competencies that enable them to work confidently in international settings, and they can also act as a catalyst or point of reference for the internationalization of local businesses and companies. This represents added value at the local level, as it can help expand or, in many cases, initiate international relations for local businesses.
While fewer in number, but not insignificant, some graduates in Civil and Environmental Engineering work in scientific research, serving research institutions or academic bodies, both in Italy and abroad.

Admission Requirements
Admission Criteria: The Master’s Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering welcomes candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree (or an equivalent first-cycle degree like the Italian “Laurea”) in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Class 08 or L-7). All applicants are required to meet the following enrollment criteria: • CEFR B2 (upper intermediate) English language certification. For Italian candidates: Enrollment is open to Italian candidates with a first-level qualification falling under Class 08 (DM 509) or L-7 (DM 270). For those with a first-level qualification in other classes (or equivalents), a minimum of 30 to 45 credits in subjects related to Base and Characterizing Scientific Disciplinary Sectors (SSD) is mandatory. Additionally, an assessment of the individual student's preparedness is conducted through specific procedures, considering: • A first-level qualification obtained in the same number of years as the commitment type (full-time or not full-time). 1. A final weighted average mark of not less than 27/30. 2. A final weighted average mark higher than 25/30 within a maximum of twice the number of years required for the commitment type (full-time or not full-time). If one of the above conditions is not met, the assessment of the individual's preparedness is determined through an admission examination. For foreign candidates: Enrollment is open to foreign candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a classification of "First Class" or higher. Applications from candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in other Engineering fields will be evaluated based on their University Transcript. Meeting this criterion does not guarantee acceptance; each application is assessed by a Committee, and applicants are typically informed of the evaluation outcome within 2 weeks. For non-EU applicants, enrollment is subject to the immigration regulations set by the Italian government, given that the Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering is a second-cycle degree program. Detailed information is available on the "Studenti Stranieri" website managed by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MUR), as well as on the websites of Italian diplomatic representatives (i.e., Embassies, Consulates, or Cultural Institutes) in the applicant's country. Early application is highly recommended, as the immigration rules stipulate a limited number of non-EU students to be enrolled in the program each year; applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
