This course aims to provide a continuous ladder of opportunity and progression towards a professional career in civil engineering and/or construction management. It is vocationally relevant, dealing with content aligned to contemporary management, environment and design issues in the industry. It will prepare managers for roles in multi-disciplinary teams, sharing common civil engineering and construction management philosophies, principles and practices. Students will explore the historical development of a wide range of management disciplines and evaluate how they have evolved to provide construction and civil engineering managers with a substantial amount of choice in terms of policy, legislation, methodology and practice. This course will enable students to research, analyse and apply their knowledge to a framework that will help them to lead successful construction projects in their workplace. The degree is accredited by the the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Institute of Highway Engineers on behalf of the Engineering Council as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer. Candidates must hold a CEng accredited BEng/BSc (Hons) undergraduate first degree to comply with full CEng registration requirements.
