In this master's program we look at managing labor and personnel, not only focusing on the interests of the organization (good performance) but also of the employees (for example, satisfaction and motivation). We do this in the context of social developments such as an aging population, internationalization and technological changes. This means that we do not regard HR policy as an independent policy domain, but as a domain in which social developments and developments within the organization are processed and integrated into the management. The coherence in that policy, the alignment with the strategic goals of the organization and the alignment with internal and external developments make the policy strategic. That is the domain of the Master's program Strategic Human Resource Management.
For example, in the field of labor and personnel, organizations have to deal with government regulations. Public and private sector organizations will have to take into account both national and EU economic and social policies, including in their personnel policies.
In addition, organizations have to deal with other developments. Social diversity, individualisation, internationalisation, dejuvenation and aging confront organizations with the need to work on sustainable employability, diversity management and age-aware personnel policy. Operating in a changing environment has prompted many organizations to make internal changes in their structures and functioning.
In this master's program you will acquire knowledge of theory and research in this field and apply this knowledge in the analysis of policy questions faced by organizations in their environment.
