In addition to mastering technical skills in math, science, and engineering, you’ll learn to think critically about the complex social, political, environmental, and economic issues that influence engineering solutions. Graduates will have the opportunity to work in a diverse spectrum of professional fields. These vary from research to design, development to manufacturing, and technical sales to production. Many mechanical engineers work in manufacturing-related areas such as analysis and design of varied products and in non-technical sectors of the economy. This program also prepares students to continue their education at the graduate level. Graduating seniors are encouraged to take the Fundamentals of Engineering examination, the first of two examinations that lead to becoming a licensed professional engineer.
