The MAT is typically a two-and-a-half year program, depending on the content courses you have already completed, when you start the program, and whether or not you take summer courses. Licensure programs in early and middle childhood are only available at the undergraduate level. If you have a degree and want licensure in early or middle childhood, you must apply as an undergraduate student and take all undergraduate courses. The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is for you if you: Have one or more degrees; Wish to obtain a teaching license; Have a desire to teach grades 7-12; and Have a desire to teach English/language arts, mathematics, science, or social studies in grades 7-12 or foreign language in grades pre-K thru 12.

Applicants for graduate study must have earned at least a 4-year U.S. equivalent Baccalaureate degree. Typically, 16 years of schooling with four years of full-time study at the university level, culminating with the award of a first or second degree. Applicants must submit their academic record/transcript at the time of application.
