You’ll be well-prepared, with 100 hours of field experiences in urban, suburban, and rural schools before you student-teach. Coursework includes one-on-one applied music lessons, ensemble performance, and courses in music theory and music history. Additionally, the curriculum includes courses designed to prepare you for a career as a teacher. Culminating experiences in the senior year include a solo recital and the student-teaching placement. Many graduates teach music in elementary and secondary schools, colleges, or work independently as studio teachers.
