The Community Arts degree program provides broad exposure to the arts, a specialization in at least one area of creativity, and a focus on community engagement. Students will develop skills vital to creating, organizing, implementing, and funding arts projects for individuals, community groups, and other organizations. Students gain real-world experience by conducting and applying research in class projects and internships at local arts organizations, nonprofit organizations, and community agencies. Graduates are qualified for careers in a variety of fields including artist (i.e., crafts, fine arts, performer, choreographer), creative director/producer designer (i.e., floral, fashion, industrial, interior set), fundraising manager, arts-related small business owner, outreach specialist, arts instructor, museum technician/conservator, and art sales/entrepreneurship. Many also continue their education at the graduate level.
