The Master of Music in Performance degree program combines advanced performance study with formal work in music theory and history. Requirements for the degree include: 33 credit hours of coursework; a public recital; a research project; and a comprehensive oral examination. To be admitted to the degree program, students must be admitted to Miami University's Graduate School and to the Department of Music. Students must audition on a major instrument from the following list: Bassoon; Cello; Clarinet; Double Bass; Euphonium; Flute; Harp; Horn; Oboe; Percussion; Piano; Saxophone; Trombone; Trumpet; Tuba; Viola; Violin; and Voice. The Miami University Department of Music encourages its students to develop their relationship to the discipline of music as they explore the world through the lens of a superb liberal arts education.
