In the past decade, contact between Russia and the former Soviet republics, and the United States has grown dramatically. A major in Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES) can take advantage of these exciting developments. Majors receive individual attention and direct contact with fellow students and with professors. You can also work with professors on research projects. Tutorial services augment classroom contact. Along with the Russian language, we also offer courses such as Russian folklore, Soviet politics, Russian history, Russian literature, etc. Our majors are encouraged to study overseas and often receive national-level scholarships. An undergraduate degree in Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies also provides a solid foundation for graduate work in area studies, political science, history, Russian language and literature, international business, law, diplomacy, or library science.
