Lusófona university is the largest non-for-profit
university in Portugal. The name of the university comes from the term
"Lusophony", which comprehends all the Portuguese-speaking countries
and their common linguistic and cultural background.
The University campuses, now called Lisbon
University Centre and Porto University Centre, are located at the heart of the
two cities, locations that are strategically connected to the whole
transportation network.
Lusófona University advocates equal
opportunities, and at present has a body of more than 16,900 students and 1.671
teaching staff, articulated in the 15 Faculties, Schools and Institutes which
constitute the main institutional unit. Currently, Lusófona University offers

higher education requirements and comply with the European Credit Transfer

for assessing and accrediting higher education in Portugal.

leads one of the new “European Universities”, Filmeu - European University for
Film and Media Arts, and actively participates in dozens of research projects
within the scope of, among others, the EU Horizon program. Furthermore, it

For Bachelors it is necessary to prove the completion of secondary education level and take one of the entrance exams set for the course for which students are applying. For Masters the ranking criteria are set for each course and may undergo interviews, curriculum evaluation, or other forms of verification of capacity for attendance.

financial support to its students, with the aim of ensuring opportunities for
access and progression in their studies, but also of rewarding the merit of
those who stand out for their academic results.
The Social Action Service, through Cofac, the
University's founding body, aims to ensure support for the comprehensive
training of students by awarding educational benefits and training incentives
in order to favour equal opportunities in access to university attendance and
progression in studies.

Quality healthcare by designing a European Research Area focussing on human and animal health and welfare, which in conjunction with health organisations has created the Health Benefits Plan (PBS) for the entire educational community and families and a psychology service and production of mental health content.

The Internal Quality Assurance System(IQAS) has been evaluated

The Social Action Service, through Cofac, the University's founding body, aims to ensure support for the comprehensive training of students by awarding educational benefits and training incentives in order to favour equal opportunities in access to university attendance and progression in studies.
The forms of student support include:
Direct social support, including scholarships for excellence, merit, doctoral studies, high-level athletes, students from CPLP countries and PRR. Discounts on tuition fees agreed with public and private organisations.
Indirect Social Support, Access to health services, cultural and sporting activities.
Special Social Support, Granted through DGES scholarships which include scholarships for students with special educational needs. Cofac grants for emergency aid for refugees.
Special benefits, through our own educational support for students, staff, new students and alumni, reverted into a reduction in the annual tuition fees.
