The  Geomatics and Geodesy Engineering  programme is considered a strategically important field of engineering. It equips students with the competencies required to work in advanced technological areas such as space and applied geodesy, digital photogrammetry, remote sensing (acquisition, processing, and analysis of satellite data), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), engineering geodetic measurements, laser technologies, digital cadastral databases, cartography, digital map production, and modern technologies used in the study of natural and man-made emergencies.

Geomatics and Geodesy Engineering is an engineering discipline that enables the study and mapping of the Earth’s surface or its individual parts using terrestrial and photogrammetric methods, satellite technologies, and computer-based systems. The programme prepares specialists capable of producing topographic and thematic maps of national importance, developing GIS platforms for various sectors, creating digital electronic maps, and generating three-dimensional (3D) surface models.

Application areas of the programme include:

·         Design, construction, and operation of railway and highway systems, as well as metro and tunnel projects;

·         Design, construction, monitoring, and operation of engineering structures;

·         Design, construction, and operation of airports;

·         Restoration, reconstruction, and conservation of historical monuments;

·         Mining and quarry operations;

·         Environmental problem-solving (environmental pollution assessment, forestry, agriculture).

Frequently Asked Questions

Graduates may work in geodesy and cartography companies, construction and infrastructure projects, public institutions, topography and mapping organizations, as well as enterprises operating in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Geomatics and geodesy engineers are responsible for land surveying, preparation of topographic maps, coordination of construction projects, satellite measurements (GNSS), and spatial data collection and processing.
Students learn to operate modern geodetic instruments (electronic total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, etc.), conduct field measurements, and process data using specialized software.
The curriculum includes training in AutoCAD, GIS software, and other geodesy and cartography-related software applications.
The development of construction, transportation infrastructure, urban planning, and land management sectors increases the demand for geomatics and geodesy engineers. Therefore, the programme is considered highly перспективе in the labor market.
