  • the design of urban environments, principles of architectural design, and solutions for urban transport systems;
  • knowledge and management of technological processes in designing urban environments where creative activity is applied;
  • the use of software related to modern urban planning design and architectural design processes;
  • the ability to use computer technologies in the implementation of design processes and in solving applied problems;
  • mastering BIM programs related to modern architectural design and modeling, and the use of computer graphic tools;
  • analysis of problems related to architectural–urban planning, landscape, and environmental design considering natural-physical factors such as light, color, insolation, climatology, etc.;
  • studying the application features of engineering-communication systems in urban planning and the ecology of urban environments, and applying integrated knowledge in modern design;
  • studying and improving theoretical foundations of modern urban planning design and implementation, protection of historical urban areas, engineering preparation of urban territories, and landscaping;
  • preparation of design and cost documentation in urban planning design processes, use of statistical and urban cadastre data, and analysis and generalization of urban design results using scientific and technological achievements, regional characteristics, and advanced experience from Azerbaijan and foreign countries;
  • conducting scientific research in design and production institutions and analyzing the results of design and survey activities;
  • project management;
  • use of modern methods of territorial-geographical information systems involved in technical support of technological processes in urban planning fields;
  • analysis and application of theoretical knowledge regarding the role of architectural-urban planning environments, cities, and settlements in ecosystems, their interrelations, and regulation;
  • distinguishing architectural objects based on architectural-typological, socio-psychological, and national-cultural characteristics;
  • setting goals and formulating tasks related to professional functions, and using analytical and applied methods of sciences to solve them;
  • ability to work and adapt within a team, familiarity with management methods, and making correct decisions through analysis in situations with different opinions;
  • mastering modern trends in urban planning theory;
  • use of geological, technological, and ecological methods during urban planning design, construction, and operation;
  • knowledge of main scientific-technical problems and development prospects of related technical fields and their connection with adjacent fields, and applying them in solving specific problems;
  • analysis of national and international experience as well as scientific-technical information relevant to research topics;
  • analysis and expert evaluation of projects implemented by foreign urban planning specialists.
