This degree aims to offer canonical training channels to those interested in studying canonical matrimonial law. The training of lawyers to act professionally before the ecclesiastical courts is a function in demand ecclesially, socially and professionally, to which this course aims to respond.
The Code of Canon Law requires, in order to act as an advocate in matrimonial causes, the requirement to be a true expert in canon law (can. 1483), and it is up to the judicial vicar to verify this requirement before admitting a lawyer to the list of advocates of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal. This verification usually requires the presentation of a degree or certificate of studies that guarantees canonical training, without a degree in canon law being necessary.
The professors, of recognised prestige, hold positions of responsibility in ecclesiastical courts.
The qualification of lawyers to act professionally before the ecclesiastical courts in cases of Marriage Law is a function in demand at all levels, which is why the Faculty of Canon Law at Comillas Pontifical University aims to offer, with this master's degree in Canon Law, a rigorous and systematic university-level preparation in this field, contributing to the training of canon lawyers with a profound knowledge of this subject.
This master's degree is a Comillas Pontifical University degree, approved by the Holy See.
