The joint Master’s Degree in Telecommunication Engineering and Smarts Grids is a double Master of Science Degree, taught by the University of Strathclyde and the ICAI School of Engineering, in close collaboration with Iberdrola. This combination provides the student with a general education in telecommunication as well as specialization in one of the revolutions taking place in the energy sector: the Smart Grid.The main objective of the program is to respond to the growing demand for engineers, needed to lead the ongoing process of the digitalization of the electric grid. This Master’s Degree Program provides students with a detailed understanding of the operation and planning of grids under the new paradigm of Smart Grids.


Students not only spend the fall term in Spain and the spring term in Scotland, but also carry out the internships (from May to August) at leading companies such as Iberdrola, Scottish Power Energy Networks (Glasgow), Minsait, Naturgy and Gridespertise.
