The Doctorate in Sciences in Metallurgy and Materials program was created in 1992 and since 1993 it has been distinguished as a member of the CONACYT Graduate Program. To date, more than 60 students have graduated, who work at universities, research institutions and in industry. Most of these belong to the SNI. The teaching staff is made up of a basic nucleus of 17 professors, all members of the CONACYT National System of Researchers who publish in indexed journals (JCR) at a rate of 3 articles/professor/year. This program aims to train doctors of science in the field of Metallurgy and Materials with scientific and technological knowledge and capable of inserting themselves as leaders in the fields of research, teaching and in the national and international productive sector, promoting scientific knowledge, training quality human resources and developing and transferring new technologies with responsibility, ethics, tolerance and social commitment.

Graduated from a Master of Science program in a related area
Have intermediate knowledge of the English language
Possess aptitude for research and independent work
Solid academic background and theoretical-practical and communication skills.
